Casinos Slots Rigged?

Oliver-Owen, 2006-09-20 13:17:59
I know a lot of questions have been asked about rigging and the odds of payment on casino slot machines. My question is whether anyone else has noticed what I sensed or is it my imagination that when I visit the casino and only a few slots are paying. Not matter which machine I pick, only a pittance comes up on the line and players around me are grumbling too. Later on, it seems the whole area of slots begins to play better and there are more winners. I believe the central computer controlling the floor regulates the payoffs at certain times of day or certain days of the week. Anybody have thoughts on this? Thanks

You get more than what you paid for in entertainment, especially if you're as old as my mother and aunt: they go giddy whenever they see something loony on those things...

  • It depends on the payout percentage, if you really like slots you'd better play online....

  • ONE SECRET THAT I HAVE NOT SEEN ADDRESSED HERE, IS THE FACT THAT THE FLASHING NEON SIGN PROMISING UP TO 98% PAYBACK ONLY NEEDS TO PERTAIN TO ONE MACHINE.THE OTHER MACHINES IN THAT AREA CAN HAVE MUCH HIGHER PERCENTAGES AGAINST THE PLAYER.
  • THIS IS LEGAL TO DO IN NEVADA, AND SOME CASINOS ARE EXPLOITING IT.

I believe that as long as a casino is paying above the minimum payout percentage they can change each machines payout rate, which tends to support your argument. Of course the truth is that your result on any one line is predetermined even before you push the button or spin the reels. Thats how the mathematical algoorithm driving the slot machine works. Even though the odds are against me, I still enjoy the infernal machines.

The whole situation would be a awful lot better if these idiot politicians would legalize, tax and regulate the online gaming industry. Just because they are not in America doesn't mean that they are all run by a bunch of thieves real cash and prizes to play games slots bingo. Clearly the lower the percentage the worse the machines pay. The only question is what is the payout percentage. But I don't think they would have any advantage of rigging the machines in the way you suggest. Remember that most legitimate on line casinos are regulated by the gaming board of the country they are in. They are not rigged. It is entirely possible that these percentages vary from time to time real cash and prizes to play games slots bingo.

The best that can be done is to program the computer to generate a very long sequence of numbers that mimics a random series free slots to play no sign up no info.. WIth modern slots, the line is blurred. But, if the computer is programmed to combine that sequence with something uncontrolable (such as the thousandth of a second that the handle is pulled), then you get as close to random as possible.

Even if somebody wins something it is a small win and probable less than he/her actually already threw in the machine.
